How to get:
Please ensure that you have finished the following quests otherwise you cannot
activate his quest:
- The Pioneering quest (finishing the Bahamas Swamp section)
- The Katovic Snowfield quest series, at least until the soup portion.
Start with Elenore’s request at Auch.
Joaquin Suppression
Continuing on, Elenore the Auch Pioneering Officer will ask you to catch Garcia,
but she will send you to do an instanced mission called the Joaquin Suppression.
Simon Ayende's Call 3 - accept or refuse
Once you’re done, head on and talk to Simon Ayende first. He will offer you two
options, which would alter the storyline a little but no matter which option you
chose you will still get Garcia’s card for both routes.
In Search for the Unknown Men-Women with Gloves - Ferrucio Wall (F2)
This leg of the quest entails pretty much just trekking to Feruccio Wall. The
quest triggers when you walk in front of the camp site.
Meeting Selva Norte
Once you enter the instance, you will meet Selva for the first time. After some
dialogue, go to Frozen Wastes and talk to Invierno to continue investigation
of Feruccio’s legacy. You will bump into Selva and Garcia again.
Ryrin's Heart
Touching Ryrin’s Heart would allow you to know what exactly is Ferrucio’s
legacy, but before that, you need 50 philosopher's stones, 50 ice crystals
and 10 cursed determinations. The philosopher's stones and ice crystals drop
all over the snowfields. The cursed determinations can be obtained by using
the ghost nukes towards the Ryrin's Hearts. You will gain the 10 ghost nukes
from Invierno at the start of this leg of the quest. To use them, simply drag
the item icon towards a Ryrin's Heart. A noonbara ghost of sorts will spawn.
You will need to kill 10 of these and hence, use everyone of your ghost nukes.
Showdown in the Snowfield
After solving the mystery of Ryrin’s heart, Montoro will appear and steal the Ice
Queen’s seal. Selva, Garcia and Invernio will join your family in battle so you can
attack from the corners. Here’s Montoro’s stats just in case:
Montoro’s stats
At this point, you will receive this awesome item that adds 3AR and DR called
Necklace of Sage. This item will be in your premium equipment window. It has
a timer for 3 days which will activate once you equip it. Be sure not to waste it.
The pendent will only remain in your inventory for three days and only one
character may equip it
Go to Glacial Fortress:Forecourt (F-2) click on the frozen girl (channel 1) and enter
the warp to Glacial Fortress:Fl.1. (Need to finish all katovic quests up until Trace
of cruelty at this point to enter.)
Once you reach the Glacial Fortress:Fl.1 map, move forward a few steps and a window
will trigger asking you if you want to investigate, which leads you to a mission.
Selecting "investigate" will warp you to the instanced mission, "Seal of Novia".
Once you’re warped to the mission, the battle against Novia will begin. This will be
no easy battle as you will not only face off Novia, but with her “summons” and
Montoro. Selva and Garcia will aid you in the battle.
Note: It is extra important you stand at the following spot as indicated if you even
want an easy battle. It will give your family a buff of AR/DR + 5 (It used to be 10 but
the buff got nerfed as of ver 2.4) .You maybe fighting a quest version of Novia but
nevertheless she’s still a tough cookie.

lvl 130 = Novia, lvl 110 = Montoro, lvl 120 = Novia’s summons
You need to take down Montoro and her summons, and bring down Novia’s HP to 50%
to complete the quest.
*Vital battle tip - Bring Elementalists or Vincent; excluding Montoro, the others are very
weak to lightning but remember to cover them while they spam away their skills.
Let me stress that the fight is really tough, even with 92e armor, Triumph Fillers and AM
Boosts. Without the room buff, you'll likely die within a few seconds. Obtaining the
room buff is critical to success. Hence, once the fight starts, immediately move towards
the designated location above in order to get the buff. The fight is quite annoying, will
likely take multiple tries. To make matters worse, the mission starts with dialogue that
can't be skipped.
A good way to win the fight is to use invisible potions once the dialogue finishes.
Being invisible causes your characters to lose aggro from the all the monsters/enemies
except Montoro. The monsters won't be able to target you and you can't use skills.
However, you can still attack normally and use items. Therefore, the tactic is to simply
keep on drinking potions as you take out the mobs one by one, starting with montoro,
then the 3 lizard things and finally, Novia. It is recommended that you keep on drinking
potions, keeping the invisibility buff up.
Attacking the mobs can be done in 2 ways. The first is via simply quaffing potions
and attacking, the second is that, once you lose aggro, head to a far end of the map and
wait for Selva and Garcia to die. Once they fall, the monsters will wonder around and if
you position yourself right, you can take them out one by one without the need for
further invisible potions. Frankly, the method of spamming potions is easier.
Once you defeat all the summons and Montoro, you can now focus on Novia. I
personally ran out of potions during this phase of the battle but was able to keep my
team up by spamming Health Fillers instead. It is still recommended to use invisibility
potions as Novia can cause freeze towards your characters. Once your characters go
down, they're likely out and you'll be one step from failing the mission and wasting potions.
Although you can use the resuscitation skill, soul crystals will not work. Due to this,
even though you can stay alive with Health Fillers, the invisibility pot is still a good way
of insuring success, and may save a dying character.
A single invisible potion grants a level 1 invisible stalker that lasts roughly for 15
seconds. You will likely need at least 130 invisible potions for the fight, not
counting potions used during unsuccessful attempts. Alternatively, you can also
bring a wizard or M'Boma to simply cast the spell, though you'll likely need a potion
or two to draw aggro away from them during the start of the fight. As long as you
have 3 characters up by the time you're up against Novia, you shouldn't have too
much trouble bringing her down. However, if you feel the need for a boost, equip
the Sage Necklace for the 3 AR DR boost.
It is recommended that before you equip the necklace, get a feel of the fight first.
Also, stock up on invisible pots. You don't need the necklace to win but it'll help.
I brought a vet Musketeer & Elementalist and an expert Fighter. I didn't take note
of the AR of my Fighter and Elementalist, but my Musk had an AR of 58. Even with
the room buff, Novia was still able to block most attacks. With the necklace on, I
was able to finish with a little over 10 minutes left. Hence, even without the necklace,
spamming potions should be enough for you to win. The necklace just makes it
somewhat easier and is definitely not needed to win.
The fight is quite expensive so even if things are going well, you might not want to
take chances. Keep your health up and keep on being invisible. Invisibility is
invincibility.
Rescue Garcia
After the battle, Garcia will be injured. Talk to Invierno again, and he will tell you
that you need 1 soup and 10 philosopher's stones to create a remedy to save Garcia.
1 soup requires 50 Wolf’s meat, 20 Golden apples, 50 cabbages and 50 beets.
Note: If you have not done the soup quest in the Katovic Snowfield quest section,
you will not be able to proceed to this part.
You could do this simultaneously with the Katovic Snowfield Trace of cruelty quest
and create a soup, but choose to give to Garcia's soup quest.
After saving Garcia, depending on what you chose when Simon offered you two
choices, Garcia will either join you immediately or he will enter into a battle against
you. But either way, you will get Garcia’s card.
Scenario 1

If you chose Simon’s second option, which is to report to him after you have
found/caught Garcia, you can get Garcia’s card as your reward by talking to him
back at Auch.
Scenario 2
If you chose Simon’s first option, which is to hand him over to the Office of
Pioneering Support, you will be engaged into a battle with him.
Garcia’s stats
After you win/lose, Garcia will run off and you will need to find him. If you want
to know his location, speak with Tiburon (ugh) and he will only tell you Garcia’s
location if you pay him 1,000,000 Vis. (** This has changed... Ramiro gives the
options of either 100,000 vis and 500,000 vis.)
To those who have done Lorch’s quest before, you should know better than to
choose the 200,000 Vis offer.
After you found his location, return to converse with Simon Ayende to receive
Garcia’s card AND a lvl 100 enchantment chip.
